The challenge

Opal sought a seasoned Human Resources people leader with the experience and knowledge required to be an integral part of the Executive and Operating Management Team driving an ambitious transformation agenda which included driving a one Opal cultural strategy aligning to employee and customer needs, while balancing an appropriate level of strategic and operational focus. The search was undertaken during a period of instability where Opal were highly visible in the media, so the messaging to the market was key.

During this period of instability, it was decided that Emu would defer all executive reach outs for a short period of time to allow for any initial views from the executive talent pool to become more fully informed.

Our search strategy was detailed and centred on executives with a strong history of large scale operational and cultural transformation, who were not only prepared to undertake such a role again, but actively pursued these type of challenges.

After an exhaustive and highly competitive search, Opal Group selected Rob Tanti.

Rob brought a wealth of experience to the role, having driven major transformational HR agendas for organisations such as Startrack, Hydro Tasmania and most recently SPC Group.
